About
Specifically, we wish to increase student academic interest in the fields of science, math and technology while inspiring confidence in their unique abilities and leadership potential. The most immediate determiner of success will be met when all team members working together with mentors design, build, program and ultimately are able to compete with a functional robot at the regional level. Beyond this, success means having fun while creating a robot that will effectively compete at the regional level, present itself as a valuable ally (along with its creators), and promote our team and others to the national competition. The motto of our school is "Non scholae, sed vitae" – Not for school, but for life. This all female, college preparatory school challenges students with rigorous academics and extensive leadership opportunities. The young women learn to think logically, critically, creatively, sensitively, and independently in this strong, supportive environment. There is no attempt to teach something special or different as “girls” math and science; instead, the girls flourish in an environment where they grow in confidence, consistently provide the leadership, and develop their own abilities in ways that are most appropriate and successful for them. We continue you to pursue new ways to develop and enrich our strong curricular and extracurricular educational program and look forward to the possibilities of adding the FIRST Robotics Competition to our program as a way to move forward in our mission of education of young women.
